Londoners answered the call and proved once again that taking care of business means taking care of people, as the Business Cares Food Drive collected a record 443,000 pounds worth of food and cash donations for this year's campaign.

The 2018 Food Drive -- the 19th annual campaign -- concluded today with its day of giving and the 443,000 pounds represents a 1.8 per cent increase over last year's record total.

“It would be an understatement to say we’re thrilled with this year’s results,” said Wayne Dunn, Business Cares’ campaign chair. “We’re both overwhelmed and humbled by the generosity of the people in London. We’ve had incredible support from businesses, employees, and the community at large."

Over 500 companies registered to participate in this year's campaign. The donations go to assist the London Food Bank and the 25 agencies that it, in turn, supports.

"I always say that we’d be happy with anything that we receive,” explained Jane Roy, co-chair of the London Food Bank. “And while that is absolutely true, I would be remiss in not acknowledging the incredible generosity of the London community.

"In addition to those who come to the Food Bank, we also support a number of organizations and service that make a difference in the community, and we can only do that thanks to the support of Londoners.”
